So I am sure most of you with a DMG are aware of the bit on Blessings and Charms in the back of the Magic Items chapter. This was a very interesting idea and I'm shocked I've not seen more posts or threads discussing it.
Personally I am thinking of incorporating them into my game at the least and maybe even replacing items with them entirely. I can't explain it but getting a special power that dwells within you allowing you to do things seems so much cooler than finding a magic necklace that does it. Maybe that's just me.
Besides the thematics of it, blessings and charms seem much easier to manage from a DM perspective as you can more easily modify, add to, or take away from without a lot of hassle. In addition they eliminate the issue that some DMs have with the magic item economy or lack thereof. Obviously you can't sell or barter blessings or charms as they are innate. This would maintain a world of normal people and normal items while allowing for the fantastic.
How does everyone else feel about blessings/charms? Like/dislike? Is anyone using them? Is anyone using them exclusively?
